May Newsletter from Alabama

The Rose Center's First Graduate We are so excited to announce that our very first participant in the Rose Center’s Program has graduated this May! This graduate received many gifts picked out and made specifically for her. An orange rose ring, a hand painted and lettered piece of her favorite Bible verse, Joel 2:25, and a handmade quilt, crafted by one of our very own team members. The Alabama Team decorated the Rose Center in this survivor’s favorite color, orange, and served her favorite foods, fried chicken, chips and salsa, and chocolate chip cookies. Along with her favorite foods and colors, the Rose Center’s first graduate invited fifteen of some of her favorite people and law enforcement who have helped...

April Newsletter from Alabama

“Break the silence. Stop the violence.” In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, our Alabama team attended Rape Crisis Center’s Take Back the Night event. Along with local advocates, survivors, and supporters of the fight against sexual violence and exploitation, our team was honored to participate in a candlelight vigil and moment of remembrance of victims and survivors of sexual assault. Ending the night with a walk of solidarity around Langan Park in Mobile, Alabama, this event brought awareness, education, and answers to sexual assault in the community. West Mobile Rotary Club Our Alabama team is extremely honored to have spoken at a West Mobile Rotary Club meeting. The West Mobile Rotary Club says that their object is to “encourage...

One Year of Freedom at The Rose Center The Rose Center celebrated one year of fighting human trafficking on March 20th! Our dreams of a safe place for women and girls at risk of trafficking came true when we opened The Rose Center. For one year, we've been able to help women and girls at risk of — or involved with — trafficking meet their needs, self-identify as victims, attain coping skills, and gain workplace skills. We have seen our participants at the Rose Center experience love like never before and be empowered to leave a life of trafficking and trauma. This is what it’s all about: to show survivors that they are enough — that they do not need to do anything to deserve love. In...

March Newsletter from Wisconsin

HEALING INSIDE & OUT AT THE ROSE HOME Two new participants joined The Rose Home this month! One is a returning participant who was not ready to complete the program before. We’re so glad to welcome her back! One participant attended her first tattoo consultation to cover up a brand from her trafficker. Traffickers use brands to claim ownership over a person and dehumanize them, and that message can stick with a survivor. When we asked this participant what her brand means to her, she said, “It makes me feel like I’m still stuck in the past.” Even though this survivor lives at The Rose Home now, her brand was a physical marker of the trafficking and addiction she fought...

The First Year of Freedom at The Rose Center

Today, we're celebrating the first anniversary of The Rose Center opening its doors in Southern Alabama! For what seems like forever, we dreamed of a place for women and girls who are being trafficked or at risk of trafficking in Southern Alabama to safely rest. We dreamed of a place the community could rally behind, where services for healing trauma and empowering women could gather under one roof. We dreamed of a place that could serve as a bridge between “The Life” of trafficking and a full, free life. One year ago, we saw those dreams come true when we opened The Rose Center in Mobile. We saw one participant leave her trafficker and move into safe housing. We helped...
