A Visit to Sawyer County

A few weeks ago, we traveled outside of the 920 to Sawyer County in the western part of the state. We had worked with a young woman from this area before, so we were eager to help spread knowledge about trafficking. Professionals in that area realized they needed education and training about human trafficking to better assist their community in fighting this problem. Dawn, our aftercare director, and one of our law enforcement partners presented for three different groups: a group of medical professionals and social service providers, members of the community, and members of law enforcement. Stories of Hope: Helping Doctors Help Trafficking Victims

We recently did a presentation for doctors and physicians on sex trafficking. We talked about what it is, how to identify it, and what to do when they encounter a victim of trafficking - because they will encounter a victim. Our team member addressed some of the more telling signs, such as the tattoos that pimps use to brand their girls.  The entire room was attentive, but one physician in particular was especially dialed in.       After our team member finished her presentation, that physician walked up to talk with her. Awareness Initiatives

It takes motivated, informed people to make a profound change on human trafficking. That’s why we are dedicated to educating and empowering our communities in order to make a difference. We provide targeted trainings tailored to professionals like health care providers, social service providers, and public servants, teaching them what to look for and how to respond when they encounter a victim. All the while, we engage the community with awareness resources.
