April Newsletter from Wisconsin

April was Sexual Assault Awareness Month. People who experience sexual assault are more vulnerable to become victims of sex trafficking. We care about preventing sexual assault. Change You Can See When we shared how Micah at Northern Tide Tattoo helps survivors of sex trafficking, we were overwhelmed at the response! Every time we meet a survivor with a brand from a trafficker, he offers to cover it with a new tattoo—completely for free. One participant at The Rose Home had a black brand. Now it's completely obscured by brightly-colored lotus flowers, thanks to Micah. The survivor chose lotus flowers because they can grow in the mud. The tattoo reminds her of being a flower growing into something beautiful despite her childhood...

Whatever We Can Do, However Long It Takes

What do letters, coffee, self-defense, and tattoo removal have in common? They're an example of the fact that we will do whatever we can do to ensure that a young lady feels supported on her journey to healing and independence! We were at a lunch meeting on a rainy day when we received a call from one of our contacts in law enforcement. He had come across Caitlin’s online ad in Green Bay. From there he was able to catch her trafficker and remove her from the situation. He called us to see if we could help.  We jumped...

Stories of Hope: Helping Doctors Help Trafficking Victims

We recently did a presentation for doctors and physicians on sex trafficking. We talked about what it is, how to identify it, and what to do when they encounter a victim of trafficking - because they will encounter a victim. Our team member addressed some of the more telling signs, such as the tattoos that pimps use to brand their girls.  The entire room was attentive, but one physician in particular was especially dialed in.       After our team member finished her presentation, that physician walked up to talk with her. She thought maybe he had another question for her, but what he had to say shocked her. He said, “Wow, I can’t believe this! I just had a young...
