Last week we participated alongside Green Bay law enforcement in Operation Cross Country 10 - an annual, nationwide operation conducted by the FBI.
We had five Outreach Team members that were on-call to meet with victims who wanted help over a period of three days over a period of three days. It is incredible to see how our local law enforcement is approaching this issue head on. We were also invited to be a part of the press conference after the sting, and you can view the press conference and read more about the operation here.
Here's a quick rundown of what took place at the operation.
We responded to a female adult and female juvenille that were agreeable to help. Each had their own story of what led them to the life, both were heartbreaking to hear and to witness the pain as they talked about wanting to get out of the life. We developed a game plan for the two of them, connecting them with the needed resources, including supportive services. We are continuing to follow-up with them and work to get them into trauma counseling as well.
As part of this operation, 15 total arrests were made in Green Bay including men who were attempting to connect with an underage female for the purposes of sex. Three people were charged with child sex trafficking and child enticement.
As we worked alongside law enforcement, it was inspiring to hear them talk about wanting to stop the pain of these girls. As was noted in the press conference about the operation , every girl stuck in the life has a story and with Eye Heart World's help, law enforcement has learned a new way to handle trafficking survivors and how best to help them, which does not include arrests or expensive tickets. This is unique to this area, we are so thankful that law enforcement sees the value in these girls and women and knows they can help them to find a path to a more positive life with Eye Heart World's help.
